Increased Flights in Costa Rica

Air connectivity has increased in Costa Rica in recent months, for our country has been widely recognized as a tourist attraction. Today, a total of 26 air companies offer flights from Juan Santamaría International Airport, and 11 from Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, Guanacaste. Both welcome 233 daily operations from the main cities around the globe.

According to Costa Rican Institute of Tourism (ICT) estimates, airlines such as Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Aeroméxico, Sunwing, and Air Canada will have –in the remainder of the year– more than 62,000 seats from and to Costa Rica as permanent and regular flights to places such as Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
As part of this initiative, Alaska Airlines announced an increase to three weekly flights Los Ángeles – San José during high season. This new itinerary will start on November 15-26, 2018 and December 16 – January 6, 2019, at both international airports.

United Airlines also announced an increase of daily flights Chicago – San José by January and February next year. Flights will depart from Daniel Oduber International Airport to the United States, with Houston-Liberia route twice a week (Saturdays and Sundays) on January 2019.
In addition, airlines connecting the country to Europe such as Air France, British Airways, Condor, Iberia, Edelweiss, Lufthansa and Thomson, are not behind in offering flights soon.
