This 2021 is going to be a challenging year for the MICE industry. The needs of event organizers and venues have changed. Health safety and compliance with protocols were at the top of the check list for any event. Not only hotels or convention centers but all the suppliers that work to develop them. Throughout the value chain.
Most associations and companies have tighter budgets for organizing meetings and events. The programs are more austere in the activities and the meetings are smaller and shorter.
In our country, the national meetings have been the first to return to a certain degree of normality, however, with the opening of the different airports, the international ones will come little by little.
At the Costa Rica Convention Center, we have advanced in the digital transformation of events, implementing different virtual accessories, which have allowed us to create different experiences and continue to transmit knowledge. Hybrid events have been the ones that our clients have done the most.
Are you an event organizer? This year you will have to be more creative to:
• Connect with the audience in a different and more emotional way.
• Justify the trip to meet.
• Increase inclusion and participation in events
• So that they are more productive and generate more value to the participants.
According to Oscar Cerezales, director of MCI Group, the growth of the MICE segment this year should be more scalable which allows an orderly growth, responsible for the different health security protocols, innovative and adaptable to a scenario that has been complex and uncertain.
