Tourism entrepreneurs are trained in comprehensive safety and innovation

Costa Rican tourism entrepreneurs will receive training on safety and innovation on the framework of the XX Tourism National Congress (CNT). This event is organized by the National Chamber of Tourism together with the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism (ICT), and it will take place this coming November 22 and 23 at the Centro de Convenciones de Costa Rica.

The CNT is the most important event for the national tourism industry, as it gathers together leaders and representatives of the private and public industry.  With each edition, this event aims to dive deep into current and relevant topics for the industry, as well as generate spaces for dialogue and reflection.

The XX edition of the congress has the theme “Toward touristic excellency. Innovation and safety for the competitiveness of the destination.” With this is mind, they will have lectures, conferences and discussion panels, which will be taught by national and international experts.

“Safety and innovation are a priority when it comes to competitiveness of a destination, and that is why we are looking to boost the development of our entrepreneurs’ abilities through training and experience and successful cases knowledge, to look for solutions to the challenges that we face and to reinforce the sustainability, profitability, and competitivity of tourism,” declared the president of the National Chamber of Tourism, Sary Valverde.

The first day of the event, entrance will have no cost and will invite-only exclusively for representatives of the tourism industry. This date will be destined for addressing topics on the comprehensive safety of the country, from the prevention to the correct management of emergency situations.

National experts will participate on it, as well as experts from countries like the United States and Spain, who will talk about the impact of crime on the tourism industry and risk management of events and tourism.

For María Amalia Revelo, Minister For Tourism, “sustainable tourism must also be safe, and that is why the goal for the training that the ICT is organizing for the first day of the XX Tourism National Congress is to educate and integrate the entrepreneurs of the industry in the task of improving the attention to tourists and the assistance they must receive in case of emergency. This is one of the efforts that the Administration is making to articulate the State, the local governments, business owners, society, the academy, embassies and other participants in the prevention to make Costa Rica a safer destination.”

The second day will have innovation as its main pillar with the goal of having the industry adapt to the new tendencies and global challenges. For this, the expert Juan Manuel Baixauli will be in the country and offer two master lectures, one on Innovation and Creation of the Touristic Product and another on the Tendency of touristic distribution. Additionally, there will be panels on competitivity and there will be precise information on the impact of tourism in the economy of the country.

We understand innovation as a process more than an idea or an isolated action, and being able to be hosts of this gathering gives us the possibility of contributing; visitors will live one of the most innovative experiences that Costa Rican tourism currently has, which is the way in which events are help at the CCCT,” added Álvaro Rojas, General Manager of the Centro de Convenciones de Costa Rica.

The participation fee for the second day of the congress is $125 for people or companies associated to the National Chamber of Tourism, $95 for members and $75 for students.
